Ukraine: in the first quarter of 2020, Nika-Tera shipped over 1 mln tonnes of grains

In the first quarter of 2020, Sea Special Port Nika-Tera LLC (Mykolaiv, part of Group DF) shipped 1.87 mln tonnes of cargoes, an increase of 1.5% compared with the same period last year, declared the press-service of the company, on April 9.

For the first three months of the current year, the port processed 85 vessels, including 2 bulk carriers with additional loading in the harbor, as well as 4 tankers with sunflower oil.

In particular, grain crops, pulses and oilseeds still dominated in the structure of cargo turnover, and covered 65% of the quarterly transshipment volumes, or 1.22 mln tonnes. Bulk cargoes totaled 14%, or 0.27 mln tonnes, oilseed meals — 17% (0.32 mln tonnes), and vegetable oils — 4% (0.07 mln tonnes).

Despite the abnormal situation and several restrictions due to the coronavirus infection in the country and the world, the port managed to quickly adapt to the new working conditions, but continued demonstrating the positive growth rates in cargo turnover. The company operates in normal mode, fulfilling its obligations to partners, contractors, employees and the state in full measure. The company will pass the test of coronavirus with flying colors, and become even stronger at the end of the crisis, said the port chief, Alim Agakishiev.
