The Egypt's agricultural quarantine delegation in the port of Novorossiysk rejected the shipment of Russian wheat, designed for delivery to the country, due to detection of ergot fungus content in the shipload, Bloomberg reported.

According to APK-Inform figures, the shipload totaled 63 thsd tonnes of wheat, which the trader ADM planned to supply to Egypt.

On September 8, the assistant to the head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor), Alexei Alekseenko confirmed the fact, and added that the Service already asked the Egyptian officials for clarification on the claims against Russian wheat. There was no official proceeding from Egypt.

At the same time, he stressed that Egypt's new requirements for zero ergot content appeared after clearance of the wheat shipload for exports. According to the previously signed documents, all the conditions were negotiated in advance, it is necessary to clear the situation, said A.Alekseenko.
