Turkish importers started negotiating with Russian partners for the direct supply of grains after recent cancellation of the restrictions on duty-free imports to the country, declared the President at the Russian Grain Union (RGU), Arkadiy Zlochevskiy on May 10.

He recalled that after imposition of the customs duties on supplying of Russian grains, the imports did not really stop, because Turkish companies used various "ploy methods" for such imports. But due to the new conditions of imports, prices for Russian wheat increased, and it became less competitive compared with Romanian and French wheat, which contributed to reduction of the deliveries.

According to A.Zlochevskiy, Russia will restore the previous volumes of grain supplies, and Turkish buyers plan to conclude new contracts to directly import grains in order to reduce costs.

He said that Turkish importers applied to Russian partners to amend contracts since May 4, following the official decision by Turkey to cancel the restrictions on the imports of grains and agricultural products from Russia.
