India traditionally became the major importer of Ukrainian fat-and-oil products — Institute of Agrarian Economics

In the first half of 2019, Ukraine exported fat-and-oil products at the sum of nearly 2.4 bln USD, up 3% compared with the same period last year, declared the Deputy Director on scientific work at the National scientific center “Institute of Agrarian Economics”, Academician of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (NAAS), Nikolai Pugachev on August 8.

Sunflower oil was the main export product in the group of commodities. In the reporting period, its sold volumes reached the sum of nearly 2.2 bln USD (up 2% compared with the same period last year).

Traditionally, India became the major buyer of fats and oils of Ukrainian origin. In January-June of 2019, its share in the structure of Ukrainian exports of the products totaled 32.1%, the expert said.

Other major countries-importers demonstrated significantly lower value of purchases compared with India: China (12.9%), the Netherlands (9.4%), Iraq (8.2%), Spain (6.3%), and Italy (5.6%).

The reporting six countries covered nearly 75% of the general export value of fat-and-oil products from Ukraine.
