According to the updated figures of APK-Inform Agency, in September 2019 India took the first position in the rating of countries-importers of Russian sunflower oil, and passed over the TOP-3 of traditional main buyers of the product — Iran, China and Turkey.
Thus, in the reporting month Russia increased the shipments of sunflower oil to India to 53 thsd tonnes, up almost three times compared with the August volumes, which became the highest monthly figures in the contemporary history of exports to the destination.
It should be noted that India started actively importing Russian sunflower oil since June 2019, due to a number of factors, including the seasonal reduction in supply of the Ukrainian product. Thus, in June-September period the general supplies of the Russian product to the country totaled more than 110 thsd tonnes, while in the same period of 2018 India did not import sunflower oil from Russia at all.
