In 2020, the growth rates of the trading volumes with agricultural products in the world will decrease, declared the Chief Shipping Analyst at BIMCO, Peter Sand, within frames of the online-conference Grain&Maritime Days Online, on May 29.

Since 2000, the volumes of marine transportation of such key agricultural products as wheat, coarse grains and soybeans, increased by nearly 3% per year, while in 2020 the growth rates can reduce to 2%, the expert explained.

At the same time, P.Sand noted that the announced figures are preliminary only, and the situation may still change.

As for the positive points, there can be some changes in the commercial routes, especially if the Far East countries start more actively purchasing products from the Black Sea countries, but not from the geographically adjacent countries, in particular Australia, the analyst added.
