The questions about quality and quantity of new-crop sunflower seed is growing more urgent as the harvesting campaign nears in the Black Sea region, declared the analysts of APK-Inform, Svetlana Kirichok.
“Quality raises many concerns. Previously, APK-Inform lowered its forecasts of sunflower seed yield in Ukraine and Russia on dry weather”, - she pointed out.
The forecast of Ukrainian sunflower seed yield was revised down from 2.6 t/ha to 2.56 t/ha. The most adverse weather is observed on the south of the country where farmers faced malformation of the crop.
“In Russia, the weather is similar. Critical decline of soil moisture content in many oblasts in July could lead to decrease of sunflower seed production. The forecast of the yield was revised down from 1.83 t/ha to 1.81 t/ha”, - S.Kirichok added.
