According to the customs statistics, Ukraine exported almost 2.2 mln tonnes of barley in July-August of 2020/21 MY, up 8% compared to the same period of the previous season (2 mln tonnes).
China and Saudi Arabia were the main importers of Ukrainian barley in July-August in both the current and preceding seasons. China increased import of Ukrainian barley by 97% in July-August of 2020/21 MY, while the shipments to Saudi Arabia declined by 14% compared to the first two months of 2019/20 MY.
In July-August, Ukraine exported 48% of the total barley export potential for 2020/21 MY. APK-Inform forecast Ukraine to export 4.5 mln tonnes of barley in the current MY (down 10% from 2019/20 MY).
“Impressive export at the start of the season is typical. Ukraine shipped abroad 40% of total export potential in July-August of 2019/20 MY. The average figure of last 5 years is 43%. At the same time, Ukraine exported record monthly volume of barley in August 2020 (more than 1.3 mln tonnes)”, - explained the Head of the Business project unit at APK-Inform, Andriy Kupchenko said.
