Russia has exported almost 267 thsd tonnes of sunflower seed to the EU since the start of the current season and as of December 31, informed the European Commission. Thus, the share of Russian sunflower seed in the overall volume supplied to the EU totaled 42%.
Moreover, the EU has imported 148.6 thsd tonnes of Moldavian sunflower seed and 115.4 thsd tonnes of Ukrainian oilseed so far in 2020/21 MY. The shares of these countries totaled 23.4% and 18.2% correspondingly.
The overall import of sunflower seed to the EU reached 635.2 thsd tonnes so far in the current season.
