Despite the restrictions of the international trade that arose from the COVID-19 pandemic, Ukraine managed to maintain its position among the global exporters of agricultural products and turned to be the leading supplier of cakes and meals, millet, barley, rapeseed, etc. in 2020, informed the Institute of land economies.
In 2020, Ukraine traditionally took the first place among the global exporters of sunflower oil. It exported 6.86 mln tonnes of the product.
“Ukraine increased foreign supplies of cakes and meals (primary sunflower cake and meal) from 4.957 mln tonnes in 2019 to 5.522 mln tonnes in 2020 (+11%). Thus, the country turned to be the world leading exporter of these products”, - the experts said.
Moreover, Ukraine became the largest global exporter of millet and more than doubled the supplies of the grain to 116 thsd tonnes in 2020.
Despite the reduction of rapeseed export to 2.382 mln tonnes in 2020 (-25%), Ukraine retained its second position among the leading suppliers. Moreover, the country was among TOP-10 largest global exporters of corn, wheat, dried peas, casein, dried egg products, soybeans, corn starch, soybean oil, poultry meat, rapeseed oil with low content of erucidic acid, corn oil and some other products.
