Current record production and high wheat prices on the global market allow Ukrainian farmers to export up to 26 mln tonnes of wheat this season without any risks for country’s food security, declared the Ukrainian Grain Association.

The UGA estimates Ukrainian wheat crop at record 33.1 mln tonnes in 2021/22 MY, up 31% compared to the last year.

“Export of wheat surplus is a core of high profit for Ukrainian agrarians, as the domestic market is not able to consume more than 8 mln tonnes of wheat, including 3.5 mln tonnes for bread production. Besides, we have high carry-over stocks of wheat at about 4 mln tonnes this season. Therefore, the export of wheat surplus will let Ukrainian farmers to gain under the favorable global market situation”, - the message said.

The UGA reminded that the annual memorandum on limit volume of wheat export is under discussion now.
