Pessimistic scenario shows that less than 70% of potential area will be planted with spring crops in Ukraine this year, Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food said on April 10, Укрінформ informed.

“If we managed to free arable lands of Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts from mines, the area may reach 80% of the potential”, – he said.

T. Vysotsky added that Ukraine would be able to provide sufficient volume of food for its population even in case of smaller planted area.

“30-40% of this 70% of area will be planted with crops for domestic consumption. We will have surplus for export”, – he noted.
