According to APK-Inform, Ukraine exported 27 mln tonnes of corn in 2021/22 MY, up by 13% compared to 2020/21 MY (23.9 mln tonnes). The result is the third biggest after the record export in 2018/19 MY (almost 30 mln tonnes). The corn shipment were record high in November, December, February, August and September. The absolute monthly record was achieved in December.

China was the largest importer of Ukrainian corn in 2021/22 MY. It bought 6 mln tonnes of the grain, down by 29% y/y. Spain imported 3.1 mln tonnes of Ukrainian corn (+11%), Romania – 2.5 mln tonnes compared to 379.7 thsd tonnes in 2020/21 MY.

APK-Inform forecasts the corn export from Ukraine at 24 mln tonnes in 2022/23 MY, if the “grain corridor” is extended (-11% y/y). Under the pessimistic scenario, the export of Ukrainian corn will decrease to 14.4 mln tonnes, or 47% lower y/y.
