Because of constant missile strikes and drone attacks by Russia on the infrastructure of Ukraine, electricity saving has been introduced in most oblasts, which has a negative impact on sunflower seed processing industry.
APK-Inform cut its forecast of sunflower seed processing in Ukraine in 2022/23 MY, however, it remains optimistic. The new projection says Ukraine will process 10.3 mln tonnes of sunflower seed in 2022/23 MY, down by 6% m/m and by 11% y/y.
The suspension of the “grain corridor” in November and, accordingly, the reduction of sunflower oil shipment from deep-sea ports will also significantly affect the processing of the oilseed.
APK-Inform reduced its forecast of sunflower oil exports in 2022/23 MY to 4.1 mln tonnes (-8% y/y). The export potential of sunflower oil can be realized if the grain corridor is prolonged.
