In 2019, the general harvest volumes of grain crops (without pulses, rice and buckwheat) in Kyrgyzstan totaled 1.742 mln tonnes in clean weight, up 2.3% compared with the previous year figures, reported the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic (KyrStat), on February 17.

Last year, the production of wheat totaled 601.2 thsd tonnes in clean weight (down 2.4%), with the average yield of 2.51 t/ha.

On the contrary, the harvest of barley increased by 8.5%, compared with the results of 2018 — to 465.9 thsd tonnes, with the yield of 2.27 t/ha.

Also, in 2019 Kyrgyzstan produced 0.25 thsd tonnes of triticale (down 57%), 2.07 thsd tonnes of oats (down 21.5%), 711.8 thsd tonnes of corn for grain (up 2.7%), 0.16 thsd tonnes of millet (up 90.2%), and 0.28 thsd tonnes of sorghum (down 46.3%).

The general harvest of pulses in the country increased by 1.8% — to 108.6 thsd tonnes, rice — up 1.1% to 412.2 thsd tonnes, while buckwheat — down 89.3% to 4 tonnes only.

As for oilseeds, last year the production of sunflower seed in Kyrgyzstan decreased by 23.1% — to 15.3 thsd tonnes, while safflower seed — up 0.7% to 12.4 thsd tonnes.
