Russia increased rapeseed oil export by 40% in 2021

In January-April (January-March for the EAEU), Russia increased export of Russian rapeseed oil by 14% to 219 thsd tonnes. The export increased by 40% to 229 mln USD in monetary terms, informs the press-service of Agroexport.

“Russia shipped rapeseed oil to more than 20 countries in January-April. China has been the largest importer of Russian rapeseed oil since 2016. It imported 118 thsd tonnes of the oil at the sum of 128 mln USD (+79%), up by 47% compared to January-April 2020”, - the message says.

Norway increased import of Russian rapeseed oil by 74% to 62 thsd tonnes and by 92% to 59 mln USD.

The shipments of the oil declined to Latvia by 43% to 12 thsd tonnes and by 24% to 13 mln USD, to Lithuania by 2.9 times to 8.8 thsd tonnes and by 2.4 times to 8.6 mln USD.

In early 2021, Algeria resumed import of Russian rapeseed oil (4.5 thsd tonnes at the sum of 5.4 mln USD).

“The import of rapeseed oil was mainly stimulated by the record rapeseed crop in 2020”, - the head of Fat&Oil Union of Russia, Mikhail Maltsev said.
