Ukraine needs international assistance in demining its territories, including agricultural lands. This was emphasized by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyy during an online speech on April 22 at the meeting of agriculture ministers of the G7 countries, the ministry's press service reported.

As M. Solskyy noted, 470 thsd ha of agricultural land in Ukraine remain mined. So far, only 17.5% of mined territories have been surveyed, of which 57 thsd ha are for agricultural purposes.

"The process of demining the liberated territories does not stop. But this process is complicated and will take decades. To date, more than 2,600 sappers from state and private structures carry out the demining in Ukraine. With this capacity, it will take us more than 20 years to clear only agricultural land," the minister emphasized.

He also noted that Ukraine urgently needs special equipment to speed up the demining.

"We have an urgent need for technical equipment for demining. We understand exactly what this equipment is and how much it is needed. And here we hope for your help," M. Solskyy addressed his colleagues.
