In the season-2020/21, the harvest of wheat in Kazakhstan will increase to 13.5 mln tonnes, up 2.1 mln tonnes compared with the last year results, reported the General Director at VKZ-Agro LLP, Alexander Malov, on May 14, within frames of the on-line conference "Ukraine. Russia. Kazakhstan: updates and forecasts".

According to the expert, in the current year the planted areas under the grain in Kazakhstan will reach 11.4 mln ha, which meet the last year result. At the same time, the yield figures will increase. However, Kazakhstan is the zone of risk farming, and the further weather conditions can still significantly change the initial forecasts.

Also, A.Malov focused on the export quotas on wheat and flour, which are currently active in Kazakhstan and informed that the quotas will be cancelled since June 1, 2020.

As for the export prospects of the new season, A.Malov estimated the general potential of wheat and flour exports from Kazakhstan in 2020/21 MY at the level of 8 mln tonnes, against 6.5 mln tonnes expected in the current MY. In particular, wheat exports will total 5.5 mln tonnes (4.5 mln tonnes), and flour — 2.5 mln tonnes (2 mln tonnes).
