Corn pushed Ukrainian grain export up in October

According to the monitoring reports by APK-Inform Agency, in the period of October 1-31, 2020, the seaports of Ukraine increased the export volumes of major grain crops. Thus, in the reporting period the seaports shipped for exports 4.47 mln tonnes of grains, up 9.6% compared with the previous month volumes (4.07 mln tonnes, taking into account the updated figures).

In particular, in the reporting period the shipments of wheat decreased by 36.7% to 2.1 mln tonnes, barley — by 29.1% to 476 thsd tonnes, while export of corn increased by more than 23 times to 1.9 mln tonnes.

In the reporting month, Indonesia was the largest importer of wheat (575.2 thsd tonnes), China was the main destination for barley (381.98 thsd tonnes) and corn (687.7 thsd tonnes).

In 2020/21 MY, the Mykolaiv Sea Commercial Port (5.39 mln tonnes) still remained the leader in the exports of major grain crops. The Chornomorsk Commercial Sea Port (3.7 mln tonnes) and the Sea Commercial Port of Pivdennyj (3.2 mln tonnes) took the second and third positions respectively.
