For international grain trade, standard proformas of GAFTA and FOSFA contracts usually apply. Grain and Feed Trade Association (GAFTA) and Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats (FOSFA) are non-governmental international associations and arbitration bodies whose main goal is to facilitate international trade in grains, feed, oils and fats.

It is not a secret to agricultural traders and brokers that English law plays a dominant role in international trade of raw materials. This is true even where the parties and the goods being sold are not related to England at all. English law has a rich history of case law serving as guidance for traders when selling on FOB, CIF terms etc.

Training course “English Contract Law in Trade of Raw Materials: Focus on Grains and Oilseeds in 2022” held by Interlegal law firm is a unique intellectual product made by Interlegal, based on our experience in law since 1995 and not supported by any international associations or governmental bodies.
